But let’s be real: taking the leap is terrifying. (and honestly, I am not sure if you are ever really ready)Going all-in on a dream project isn’t a gentle step; it’s a plunge. There’s no weekly pay check safety net, no steady benefits package. But here’s the thing: if you don’t fully commit, it rarely has a chance to grow into something real. Taking that risk can be the very thing that makes your passion a sustainable, full-time gig.When I made the decision that I wanted to quit my job (they laid me off 2 days before I got the chance to)... I had my FU money ready to go, it gave me 6 months to try and make this freelance gig work. But luckily I didn't have to use it as I got a severance package. I know this stuff only happens in the movies. 🤩So, here’s how to start building your FU Money fund to get you to that place where you’re ready to leap—and land strong:➊ Set Your Freedom Goal: Estimate how much you’d need to cover 6-12 months of expenses. Not your rainy-day fund; this is the I’m going for it fund.➋ Trim the Extras: Dive into your budget, see where you can cut or pause. Every dollar counts towards your freedom.➌ Fuel the Fund: Side hustles, freelance gigs, or anything that adds to the pot helps speed things up. The more you build now, the more stable you’ll feel later.➍ Make It Auto: Set up automatic transfers into a separate account. It’s like paying your future freedom as a bill each month.➎ Check In & Recalibrate: Keep an eye on your fund and remind yourself what it’s for!
